AC/DC Storm the UK Rock Charts!

It's been a few weeks now since the AC/DC discography became available on iTunes and it definitely looks like that decision has paid off. This week, the top 10 in the UK Rock Singles Chart has been populated entirely by AC/DC, with Back in Black taking the No.1 spot while also reaching 27 on the main singles chart. On top of this, there's only 5 non-AC/DC tracks in the top 20 rock singles!

As I write this, the artist page for AC/DC on the Official Charts website hasn't been updated with this info so I included these print screens for proof.

Here's the top 5. Damn advert!

And some more (No.6 was Shoot to Thrill):

AC/DC - Now on iTunes!

AC/DC's entire back catalogue has now been released on iTunes for the first time ever! You can get all of their studio and live albums plus the 1984 EP, ' '74 Jailbreak '. The brand new album 'Live at River Plate' is on there too.

Two exclusive collections have also gone on sale. The first (AC/DC: The Collection) features all 15 studio albums while the second (The Complete Collection) also includes the live albums. They are priced at $99.99 and $150 respectivly.

Iron Man 2 hit Number 1 in the UK charts in 2010 based on CD sales alone and it didn't even feature any new tracks, but the option for legal downloads will help increase their sales even futher in the near future.

The Essential Run-D.M.C. Released!

The brand new compilation album 'The Essential Run-D.M.C.' was released two days ago on October 30th. Even though I saw the album on AllMusic on the release day, I only just relealised that it was a new release today! *facepalm*.
Anyway, this is a 2 disc set making it the longest and most comprehensive Run DMC compilation to date.
Jason Nevins' 1998 hit remix of 'It's Like That' is omited this time but 'Christmas in Hollis' is included. This means that, like Ultimate Run-D.M.C., there are two tracks on this album which can not be found on any studio releases from the group (the other track is 'Here We Go').
It looks like this could be the best Run-D.M.C. compilation out there however, it lacks the DVD which was included with Ultimate Run-D.M.C. but if you just want the music, you can't do much wrong with this.

Video Highlight- Jam Master Jay & Grandmaster Flash Performances

Today marks ten years since the death of the legendary DJ Jason Mizell a.k.a, Jam Master Jay.
This video features performances from both JMJ and fellow DJ Grandmaster Flash on MTV (when it wasn't just pregnant 16 year olds). I'm not sure exactly what year this video was filmed in, but I'm assuming that it's from somwhere between the mid 80's and the mid 90's.
Enjoy the video and RIP to Jam Master Jay!

Iron Maiden picture disc vinyls released!

Today both 'Iron Maiden' and 'Killers' have been re-released as the first in a series of picture disc vinyl albums. Between now and Febuary 2013, all 8 Iron Maiden albums from the 80's will be released on this format, icluding the double live album 'Live After Death'!
Thankfully, they have decided to go with the original cover for Iron Maiden rather than the 1995 'remastered' version. Not that I Don't like the '95 version, I just prefer the original.
'The Number of the Beast' and 'Piece of Mind' will be out in November.

All of the albums look awesome and you can find more information here:

Video Highlight- Run DMC Live 1984

Well it's been quite a long time since my last post so I thought I would make good on this blog's promise to feature music from the Past, Present and Future. So here is a video of an amazing live performance of Run DMC performing Sucker MC's in 1984 on Graffiti Rock. They then proceed to have a rap battle with Kool Moe Dee and Special K. Pretty awesome stuff, check it out!

Iron Maiden's Stockholm 2013 Performance Already Sold-Out

The second date (after the Download festival) to be announced for the 2013 Maiden England European Tour was at the new Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. I mentioned this in an earlier post about the European leg being confirmed but I thought it was worth mentioning that only a few days after the tickets going on sale, the concert became completely sold out! This place has a 50,000 capacity by the way!

In other Maiden news, bassist Steve Harris' new solo album/ side project 'British Lion' has entered the UK Album Charts at 39 and the UK Rock Album Charts at 2. It was beaten to the No.1 spot by Green Day's new album 'Uno!'.

Iron Maiden 'Maiden England Tour' European Leg Announced

This year one of the greatest bands in history, Iron Maiden, toured North America on the 'Maiden England' Tour which was based on the 1989 concert video of the same name (which is set to be re-released next year, hopefully along with one of this year's shows).
At the time they mentioned it would be extending into a world tour in 2013 which has now become official with the announcement of the European leg of the tour.
They are set to headline the Download Festival in Donnington for a record breaking fifth time next year!
It was also more recently announced that they are also to perform at the brand new Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on July 13 2013.

Check out this link for the tour dates list which is set to expand soon! http://www.ironmaiden.com/tourdates.php

AC/DC 'Live at River Plate' album announced!

AC/DC's first live album since 1992's 'AC/DC Live' was announced earlier this month, following on from the DVD of the same name released last year. The album will have the same track listing as the DVD and will be released on both CD and vinyl formats on November 20th. Awesome!

Run-D.M.C. To Reunite at FunFunFun Fest 2012!

Okay, so this news is a few months old now, but I thought it deserved a bit more coverage. Hip-hop legends  Run DMC are set to perform on the 'Blue Stage' FunFunFun Fest in Austin, Texas in November 2012. They broke up in 2002 after the tragic murder of Jam Master Jay but the two remaining members reunited earlier this year to perform at Jay Z's 'Made In America' concert. The words "Jam Master Jay Forever" were written along the top of the stage for the performance and I suspect they will do the same thing in November.

I am very happy to hear that my favorite hip-hop group have finally reunited but I doubt we will see any new material from them. I would really like to see another tour with the Beastie Boys, that would be awesome!

More info can be found here: http://funfunfunfest.com/
Thanks for reading!

Edit: Wednesday 7th November:
Here is the setlist for the show which took place at the weekend for anyone who looks back at my older posts! :) Looks like the perfect Run DMC setlist to me!
